On August 5, 2015, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and cosponsor Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA) introduced the “Business Supply Chain Transparency on Trafficking and Slavery Act of 2015” (S. 1968). This bill is identical legislation to H.R. 3226. If passed, the bill would require all issuers with annual global receipts exceeding $100 million to annually report to the Securities and Exchange Commission and disclose publicly on their websites information describing measures the company has taken to identify and address conditions of forced labor, slavery, human trafficking, and child labor within the company’s supply chains. The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
